Information on salaries

Once you have been offered a job the discussion and negotiation isn't necessarily over. One of the most intimidating aspects of getting a new job can be negotiating your wage. Being prepared for salary negotiations is the best way to get what you want.

Before you go into a salary discussion make sure you've researched your value in the marketplace, that is your general market value based on skills and experience, and your value to your employer - how you will contribute to the organisation. Prepare some valid reasons for why you believe you are at a particular level.

You can also review a range of other salary guides for business, finance and accounting industries in the links from the menu to the right. These surveys are compiled by recruitment agencies and generally reflect the current trend in the market.

When you're negotiating your wage be prepared to be flexible. Not all jobs will have room for negotiation, and you may have to decide what you are prepared to accept for the experience.
